What I think:
Let me put things into perspective for you guys first: after I placed my order, the barista said, “Nananapak ‘to [This packs a punch].” Did I waver? No. Did they waver? Yes, a little bit. My friendly neighborhood barista took his time to perfect the drink for me and said if I found it too bitter, he can make it again with one less shot. (It had five. Cue the horror movie music.)
Quick Trivia #1: A Ristretto is just a short shot of espresso. Meaning you only get the more concentrated extraction from the beans–right before the second half of the extraction happens and the shot becomes more diluted and bitter.
So when you think about it, one Ristretto is basically half a normal espresso shot. Multiply that by five and you get this drink that has a much stronger, sweeter espresso flavor. The first few sips were bitter, but after a while the sweetness came out and the taste became more pleasing to the palate.
Would I drink it again? It packs a punch in both caffeine and flavor. So, yes. ♥
You will like it if:
1. … you are a fan of the strong taste of coffee.
2. … you want to perk yourself up for the next 8 hours.
3. … you really, really, really, really, really, really like coffee.
You will hate it if:
1. … you like your coffee strong but sweet.
2. … you prefer a less violent drink.
3. … you were joking when you said you really, really, really, really, really liked coffee.
Tweak it!
+ More caramel drizzle. Not the you-are-a-nice-customer-here’s-one-more-swirl type of more that we all love getting. Pay for the extra drizzle, it makes a difference.
+ Another pump of Vanilla Syrup could bring out more of the sweetness.
+ Another shot. Try ordering an Iced Venti Quadruple Ristretto Caramel Macchiato, or,
– One shot. Have it as Iced Tall Double Ristretto Caramel Macchiato if you’re having it for the first time and just want a taste.
Quick Trivia #2: An “Upside Down Macchiato” is no longer a Macchiato.

I’m going to try the double tall ristretto — I realized I was kidding when I said that I really, really, really, really, really liked coffee. :p
Try it! It’s not really that much stronger than a regular double shot… but it tastes stronger because of the ristretto.
